We are a community of volunteers, photographers, and advocates committed to supporting shelters across Oklahoma. Our mission is simple: give every adoptable dog the visibility and resources they need to be seen, chosen, and given a chance at life. By partnering with shelters of all sizes, we help lighten the load and amplify their lifesaving work.

Meet the Team

  • Nyssa Walker

    PRESIDENT - FOUNDER

    Nyssa is the founder and president of Shelter Support Network and has been advocating for shelter dogs for nearly a decade. Her work is rooted in the belief that collaboration, visibility, and consistency can change outcomes for dogs in the shelter system.

    Originally from Colorado, Nyssa began photographing adoptable dogs in 2015, working with shelters and rescues across the state. Photography is where she truly shines; she focuses on capturing dogs as they are and helping their personalities come through.

    Nyssa moved to Tulsa about three years ago through the Tulsa Remote program and has called it home ever since. She fosters countless dogs and volunteers with numerous shelters and rescues across Oklahoma, while typically keeping a full house of five dogs at a time, a mix of fosters and foster failures.

    Outside of rescue work, Nyssa works in earned value management supporting mission-critical programs. She has a background in criminal justice, is a recent Oklahoma State University graduate and also works part time as an SA Victim’s Advocate.

    Kayla’s involvement with Shelter Support Network began through hands-on volunteering and quickly grew into a deep commitment to advocating for shelter dogs and the people who show up for them.

    As SSN’s Volunteer Coordinator, Kayla cares deeply about the volunteers behind the work. She focuses on creating a supportive, organized, and encouraging environment so people feel valued, confident, and excited to keep helping.

    She spends the majority of her time supporting dogs at Tulsa Animal Services, while also helping shelters in Catoosa, Collinsville, and Sand Springs. Having fostered four dogs and sharing life with three of her own, Kayla brings patience, structure, and empathy into everything she does. With a background in marketing and graphic design, she helps turn stories into connection so shelter dogs get the visibility they deserve.
