Who we are

We are a community of volunteers, photographers, and advocates committed to supporting shelters across Oklahoma. Our mission is simple: give every adoptable dog the visibility and resources they need to be seen, chosen, and given a chance at life. By partnering with shelters of all sizes, we help lighten the load and amplify their lifesaving work.

Meet the Team

  • Nyssa Walker

    PRESIDENT - FOUNDER

Nyssa is the president and a founder of Shelter Support Network and has been advocating for shelter dogs for over a decade. Her work is rooted in the belief that collaboration, visibility, and consistency lead to better outcomes for dogs in the shelter system.

Originally from Colorado, Nyssa began photographing adoptable dogs in 2015 while working with shelters and rescues across the state. Photography remains a central part of her advocacy, allowing her to capture dogs as they are and help their personalities come through in ways that increase visibility and adoption.

Nyssa relocated to Tulsa through the Tulsa Remote program and has called it home for the past three years. She fosters regularly and volunteers with multiple shelters and rescues across Oklahoma, often maintaining a full house of dogs that includes both fosters and foster failures.

Outside of rescue work, Nyssa works in earned value management supporting mission-critical programs. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice & Criminology from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master’s degree in Engineering and Technology Management from Oklahoma State University. Her professional background and advocacy experience help guide Shelter Support Network with structure, accountability, and compassion.
